Hey guys. So obviously this trip wasn't really about photography, it was our anniversary trip after all. I did kinda want to get at least one "winner" shot though.Read More
The second day we hiked Devils Garden in Arches National Park. We decided to take a more challenging path off the main trail.
Hiking in the middle of the desert was no joke! We had to remind ourselves to drink lots of water. The trail would seem to end and there would be a huge pool of water or a giant boulder and we would have to figure out how to get around it to find the rest of the path by climbing over the boulder or scaling a ledge or anything else in between. I have definitely never experienced a hike quite like that before but it was so challenging and so much fun! The views too….holy cow! So many beautiful canyons, boulders, and arch formations. Utah, you are beautiful.
Our brother and sister in law were passing through on their way to California so we met up with them later for lunch on this great little patio and caught up with them during their big move. Its always funny to see familiar faces in new locations.
The rest of the day we just enjoyed the tiny little town of Moab walking the shops and having our anniversary dinner at this fun little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. It felt good to dress up after all of the hiking that morning. Nathan is writing the next post for the last day of our trip. Wait until you see the pictures he got of the arches at sunrise!
The first day we took the land rover out on 70 miles of 4x4 off-roading trails in Canyonlands National Park. Off-roading was a cool experience because we got to cover a huge amount of land but it was scenes that you could only see with a 4x4 vehicle.Read More
When we first got married someone suggested to us that we should try to go to a different state every year for our anniversary so we could make it to all 50 states by our 50th wedding anniversary. We loved that idea! So every year, in a different state, we’ve taken a picture doing the same pose, bought a post card from where we visited, and had fun exploring the area. We are reminded every year what an amazingly beautiful and unique country we live in. If you ask most Americans “If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?” the answer is almost always somewhere oversees in a different country. Rarely do you get an answer of one of our own states and rarely do you meet anyone who has been to all 50 states! I have definitely been guilty of this and while I certainly have dreams of traveling all over the world, I have only been to 20 states in the US. Every state has something amazing beautiful and interesting about it. My breath is taken away on almost every trip we’ve taken.
This year was Moab, Utah and oh my goodness it was unlike anything I have ever seen! We took so many pictures that we decided to break it up over a couple posts coming later this week!
Today Courtney and I have been married for 4 years!
It has gone so fast but also kinda feels like life began when we started our adventure together. Marriage is not easy but it is so good. The love and closeness it creates is one of the most beautiful things on earth.
Courtney is the coolest, smartest, most beautiful and most loving person I know and it makes me so happy that she is going to be standing next to me as long as we are both living. I love you so much baby. Happy anniversary.
